Greetings and Welcome
About This Site.
This is a Genealogy Web Site of the Cooney, Craven, Frauenfelder and Lilley Families.
Background.
I started this project many years ago and it was always my intention to publish some sort
of book or booklet. However with the increasing use and popularity of the internet I
thought it would be a good idea to publish it on this medium. Certainly from the
point of view of keeping it up to date, this is a better option.
Initially it was meant to be a permanent record of the Lilley Family. Then I felt
it wouldn't be complete without researching my mother's side of the family, the Craven
Family as well. Then my wife said 'what about my side of the family'. I am
very glad she did because the Cooney, Thomas and Frauenfelder families are very
interesting indeed.
I hope it will remain a permanent record of and for these families which people will
value as time goes on and perhaps someone in a hundred years or so can update them.
At least a couple of hundred years will have been done.
Of course it is not exhaustive and probably never will be but I have tried to include
everyone that I know about. At least to provide a link from the past to the present
day. As more information becomes available there will be updates from time to
time. So please visit us regularly.
If there are any errors or omissions then I apologize. Similarly if there is some
noteworthy comment about someone that is not mentioned then I most likely didnt know
about it or I forgot. Whatever the case, if there is something that doesnt
sound right or is missing please let me know. You can e-mail me. Or you can sign my
Guestbook. You can see who else has signed my Guestbook by
clicking here. You can also leave a message, ask a question or make an
announcement on my message board.
Above all, I have tried very hard not to embarrass or offend anyone. If that has
inadvertently occurred then I sincerely apologize and ask you to let me know so that I can
rectify the situation.
One thing I have gone to great pains to achieve is authenticity. There is no
elaboration on my part - just the bare bones facts and there is no guesswork.
Everything that is included in this site can be authenticated either verbally by someone
or its in writing somewhere.
Wherever possible I have included the registration number of a particular event eg,
birth, death or marriage. This gives authenticity to the research and also, whilst
not absolutely essential, makes the ordering of birth, death and marriage certificates a
whole lot easier and certainly less costly.
The principle aim of the exercise has been to recognize every descendant of the people
who so bravely left their families and homeland to start a new life in a land so unknown
in those days. As it turned out I think they all made a terrific decision, but they
were not to know that then.
Please feel free to visit the photo albums and make use of the interactive comments
facility.
